Veronica Cretu brings over two decades of expertise in the domains of open government, data governance, AI, Internet Governance, civil society development, and gender equality. Her extensive experience spans across the EU, Eastern Partnership, Central Asia, Western Balkans and West Africa regions. She conducted hundreds of capacity building programs, carried out country assessments and independent evaluations, providing valuable insights to the policy making processes across countries. In doing so, she has been working closely with the World Bank, UN Agencies, civil society organizations, academia.

Originating from Moldova, Veronica has assumed a significant leadership role in shaping Moldova's Open Government agenda: during her tenure as Director of the Open Government Institute (2002-2018), as well as in her capacity as the civil society co-chair of the Moldovan Coordination Committee on Open Government.

Throughout the past years, Veronica has served on global committees and advisory groups (i.e. The Internet Governance Forum Multi-stakeholder Advisory Group, Member of Nominating Committee at ICANN, OGP civil society steering committee member, UN Women Moldova advisory board member), contributing her expertise to the intersection of technology, internet governance, open governance, gender.

She is currently a member of the Committee on AI and Access Info Group of the Council of Europe (COE). Veronica is the co-founder of Innovating Governance Association, Austria. Her current thematic interests are: Data Governance, AI for Government, Digital Government, International Cooperation, multistakeholderism, sustainable development, whole-of-government.

Veronica is currently pursuing International Masters in AI for Government with Universidad Politechnica de Madrid; she holds a MA Diploma in Contemporary Diplomacy and a Postgraduate Diploma in Diplomacy and IT. Her research focused on the role of open government within diplomatic missions: how open government principles can enhance transparency, cooperation, and effectiveness in diplomatic endeavors. She holds a Bachelors & MA Diploma in Foreign Languages.
