Vain Jarbandhan

Prof DB Vain Jarbandhan is associate professor and Acting Director: Centre for Public Management and Governance in the College of Business and Economics, University of Johannesburg (South Africa). His academic area of interest focuses on, inter alia, public sector human resource management, future-fit leadership and development, participatory and multi-risk governance and good governance. He is an experienced and registered educator. He serves on the Executive Committee of the Association and Schools of Southern African Departments of Public Administration and Management (ASSADPAM), is the Chief Editor of Administratio Publica, an accredited journal. He is also a member of the African Association of Public Administration and Management (AAPAM).

He has published widely in academic journals and has contributed to book chapters. He has supervised honours, masters and doctoral students to completion. Furthermore, he possesses well-developed communication, planning and organisation skills, with a strong aptitude to motivate and train teams and individuals in order to transfer skills, with high levels of cognitive and emotional capacity. He is committed to mentoring, empowering and enabling students and junior staff to become self-directed, life-long learners who could make an impact on themselves and their environments. Finally, he has forged academic partnerships across Africa (Rwanda, Uganda, Botswana and Kenya) and Europe (Sweden, Austria and Lithuania) to promote good governance and corporation.
