Cengiz Günay

Dr. Cengiz Günay is Deputy Director and Senior Researcher at the Austrian Institute for International Affairs –oiip - and Lecturer at the University of Vienna. In 2018/19 he was a visiting fellow at the Foreign Policy Institute at the Paul H. Nietze School of Advanced International Studies, Johns Hopkins University in Washington DC. His fields of research are the transformation of statehood, neoliberal interventions and their effects, informalization, authoritarianism, Islamism, EU-Turkey and Euro-Mediterranean relations.

His regional focus lies on Turkey and the Arab Middle East. Dr. Günay has coordinated several research projects and the Austrian network of the Anna Lindh Foundation. He consults national and international institutions Dr. Günay frequently comments in national and international media on developments in Turkey and the Arab Middle East.
