Vasyl Khymynets

Dr. Vasyl Khymynets currently serves as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Republic of Austria, a position he has held since October 2021. 

With a distinguished career in diplomacy, Dr. Khymynets previously led the 1st Territorial European Division at Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 2015 to 2021. He has extensive experience in Germany, where he served as Counselor at the Ukrainian Embassy in Berlin (2009–2015) and acted as Chargé d'Affaires in 2012 and 2014. His earlier roles include Deputy Head and Head of the Minister’s Office at Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2008–2009), Head of the Social and Humanitarian Division (2007–2008), and First Secretary at the Ukrainian Embassy in Berlin (2003–2007).

Dr. Khymynets holds a Doctoral decree focused on Ukrainian-German relations, awarded in 2008, and a Master’s degree in Foreign Policy from the Diplomatic Academy of Ukraine (2001–2002). He also holds degrees in Economics and German Studies from Uzhhorod National University.
